Based in London, but originally from Lancashire, director Libby Burke Wilde’s work crosses over between striking narrative commercials and films with cinematic and emotionally-driven documentaries. Motivated by the power of storytelling to drive social change, her work immerses her audience in new worlds and subcultures, and is often focused on translating human stories into engaging portraits and narratives that shine light on socially complex topics.

At the beginning of this year, Libby directed a series of intimate short films for the BBC. A portrait of modern Britain, the films capture real people in their homes in and across the UK, grounding the BBC in British culture as a means of connection, nostalgia and familiarity. Other recent clients include TFL, NSPCC, Lancashire County Council, and PayPal.

Her short film ABSENT, created in partnership with the charity Freedom4girls to address stigmas around period poverty, won Gold at Kinsale for ‘Best Short Film Under 5 Minutes’, and went on to win two Silver Screen Awards at the Young Directors Awards, alongside a string of other accolades.
