Biography

Born in Iran and raised in provincial Denmark after relocating as a child, Naghmeh is now based in Copenhagen. Her rich cultural background and diverse life experiences serve as key sources of inspiration for her work.

Always drawn to literature and storytelling, she studied English and Scriptwriting at the University of Southern Denmark before becoming a director. She often draws upon the influence of Iranian cinema, incorporating its visual poetry and sensibility into her work. Her work is known for its use of meaningful symbols and metaphors, reflecting her strong desire to evoke emotion and inspire reflection in her audiences.

In 2023, Naghmeh directed Iran-e Man for Pairi Daeza as part of the Women Life Freedom Project. A visual poem, the film identifies the beauty found in collectivity as an alternate form of defiance against modes of suppression. It went on to win at Cannes Lions, D&ADs, Eurobest, the YDAs, and shots, where she won New Director of the Year.

Since then, Naghmeh has developed a versatile body of work, directing Ffern's summer campaign 2025, Pink Sky At Night, starring Bill Nighy. At the beginning of this year, she directed the award-winning campaign, Name The Bias for Ethnicity Pay Gap Day, a call to action against systemic inequalities affecting ethnic minorities in the UK.
