Frederik Louis Hviid graduated from Danish film school Super16 in 2017. His graduation short, Half Man, won gold at the Cannes Young Director Award and was nominated for that year’s Danish Film Academy Awards. He went on to direct the season finale of the highly successful Danish television show Follow the Money (aired in the UK on BBC4), which was selected for the 2019 Berlinale and won several Danish Academy Awards including “Series of the Year”.

The following year Frederik completed his debut feature, the police thriller Shorta, together with Anders Ølholm. The film premiered in Critics’ Week at Venice Film Festival and also played at Toronto to excellent reviews, going on to be picked up by Magnolia for release in North America and Vertigo in the UK.

Since then, he has directed the season finale of the drama series Temple, for Sky, starring Mark Strong. He was also a co-creator and director of the Danish drama series Huset (Prisoner), starring Sofie Gråbøl and David Dencik, diving into the world of Danish prisons.

Frederik's latest feature film, The Quiet Ones, premiered at TIFF 2024 to international acclaim. Based on the true story of Denmark's biggest-ever robbery, the film has also screened at Gothenburg Film Festival and won awards at the Robert Prisen awards in Denmark.
